When they behave in the manner you describe, I would hazard a bet he is in some sort of pain. If he is eating, defecating, urinating normally it likely isn't gastrointestinal or a bladder problem. It may very well be a problem with knees ie slipping patella's, could be hips or other.
Are all his baby teeth out? Retained teeth can be a painful thing for them. Could be tonsilitis, they don't always cough when they have it. Ear infection? Are the ears emitting an odour?
I would have a Vet you trust check him out. 4 days is a bit long for it not to right itself.
