Yes, make sure it fits snug, and then they can't wriggle out of it! When we first put clothes on Yoda, he HATED IT and would always try to get out of it. But he learned as well that it kept him warm, so now he likes it, just like he likes putting on his harness (cuz he gets to go somewhere!). I'd suggest putting the clothes on, then taking them outside a bit if it's cold, it'll help them associate clothes with being warm. Just don't try to train them to wear clothes when it's 80 degrees out.
