Our new little girl does that. Really scared me to start with. After research I realize it is what is called "reverse sneezing". I learned that if it lasts longer than you like, put your finger over their nostril for a few seconds and they should stop. I have never experienced this phenomena after 50 years of dog parenting but apparently it is not uncommon especially in smaller dogs and many times brought on from excitement or stress. Do a search on it if you would like more detailed info. :-)
