When my Maltese turned into a sausage from eating kibble I put him on Stella & Chewys dehydrated patties. I hydrate with warm water and he absolutely devours his food. He is back to the hour glass shape. The vet was impressed with the weight loss even though it is raw food. I do give him a tiny bit of Zoey's low fat Gastro kibble at lunch and a tsp of same -canned- for dinner so he doesn't feel like Zoey gets to eat and he doesn't. This has worked great for us.
