These little ones often have quirks and idiosyncrasies--some that last and many do not. It took Piper months before she'd take the initiative to sleep close to me on the couch and even longer before she'd climb on my lap; it's like she was too proud to ask or she was pretending that she didn't care if she got loving attention (smooches, hugs, having an arm around her...). I've loved her from the moment I took her in my arms so it was difficult to respect her "coolness," but I was careful not to pick her up or get too hands-ey with her in order that she could feel like she had some choices and say in her life. One of the most emotionally tough issues was that Piper would not look me in the eye; she'd drop her head or turn away...heartbreaking. So everyday, I'd set her in my lap, facing me and I'd look at the ceiling and when I knew she was looking at me, I'd smooch her little noggin and set her down. Nowadays, this little dickens will stare me down until I succumb to her Yorkie mind-meld and if staring at me from the floor doesn't work, she'll get in my face (You cannot look avay and you vill do vhat I vant) So all my ramblings are simply to say things are very likely to change. You're obviously very keyed-in to your boy and that'll go a long way in bonding with him...Soon he'll be hogging the middle of the bed and stealing covers knowing he's safe, wanted, and loved!
