Welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations! Being nervous is understandable, but bringing home an adult Yorkie is a little less intimidating.

Bring your new baby to the vet for a basic wellness exam as soon as possible. It's good to establish a relationship with the vet too.

Use a harness and not a collar for leashes.

Yorkies are prone to luxating patellas, knee problems. Preventing jumping from beds and other high places is recommended. Use doggy stairs or ramps.

I'm very conservative with food and treats because Yorkies are susceptible to pancreatitis and digestive disorders. My boys eat kibble as their primary diet, Fromm Chicken a la veg. They get a limited list of fresh foods that are simple like steamed chicken.

Don't worry too much. Feel free to ask many questions. Best wishes!
