Default Thunder shirts?

I see a lot of those, also lovies for them to help them calm. Any tips on calming them with a sudden issue? Would a thunder shirt work for after the fact? I assume it's because they feel safer with a bit of weight and something covering them. My poor girl was sleeping today and our buzzer for the fire alarm went off. twice. First time I had her calmed; second time I had a heck of a time calming her down. She's still a bit terrified. I'm kicking myself because i ALMOST bought one last week just in case for new years.
