Hope I'm not too late to weigh in but I am not in support of cutting deuces top knot. Even though you may not be able to keep totally on top of grooming I think it will be easier and better- especially for the long run- not to cut the top knot or eye face beard area. The weight definitely helps keep it out of the eyes and mouth, even if it is not tied up. If you cut it, it is just constantly a little bit in their eyes and always getting in the way. I think just keeping his face reasonably cleaned and brushed- even if not tidily knotted- will be better until top knot days are back
