Keep in mind for 7 months he had one home, now he has a new home, new mom, new schedule, new smells, many changes he has to adjust to. You have him just a few days, he has to learn to trust you, you are still a stranger to him. Try taking him on walks, that's a good bonding tool. Tease him with his toys to encourage him to play and praise like crazy when he does. He just needs a few more days and you will see a great change in him.
