Default over protective yorkshire terrier

Hi my name is joanne and i have a male yorkie he is just over 7 years old. I am having a big problem with him that i need advice with. When me and my husband are in the room and my husband goes to go out of the room my dog barks almost like a screaming . we just dont know how to stop this. its same when we go to bed and my husband gets up to go to the toilet the dog barks. we have tried to catch him to hold him but he runs and hides so we carnt get to him. Neither of us have ever hurt buster, its just not fair on the neighbours as he is getting worse, he nips sometimes to. He has a tendancy to hide almost to the point of laying in wait for my husband to get up, the slightest move from my husband and the dog runs and hides and waits, we just dont know what to do, we have thought about castration.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
