Should I be concerned (I hope not!!). Is there a way to treat holistically?

Also, my mother's yorkie has black "specks" they almost look like a patch of blood blisters, or pin pricks. My mom's dog scratches, has hot spots, and hair loss. The vet put her on steroids and said she was allergic to chicken, so mom changed the diet. But poor Sofie (dog) is still scratching. Again, hoping someone has great suggestions and help!

I told my mom that if there was a solution, then THIS SITE was the place to find it.

THANKS EVERYONE!
Sounds like you figured it out, pigmentation change = freckles.

Pretty common with aging dogs. Our pup had a clear pink belly a few weeks ago and now she has some darker patches. Our cairn terrier who reached a rather ancient age of nearly 18 developed dark patches on her underside and a good deal of moles and other bumpy skin conditions -- all old age related but harmless.

If your girl is otherwise healthy I would not be concerned.
