I have Yorkies and my Mom has Malteses. I think they are both precious dogs, but I think the Maltese require more coat care - They show dirt faster, they have tear stains, they're paws get dirty, their back ends show the littlest speck of poop, their coat tangles more, they take longer to dry after baths, they need to be brushed twice a day, their faces shows stains after eating. They do seem to be a little calmer than the Yorkies. I haven't noticed hers being one person dogs. Hers bark more than mine, but it may be just personality. I think they share a lot of the same health problems, but her's seem to get a lot of ear infections from excess hair growing. Her Malteses have been bigger than my Yorkies even when they weigh the same. |
