In 2006, 10 years ago, I was getting ready to adopt an abused Yorkie from our local shelter. The day before the mandatory hold time was up and she would be available for adoption, she passed away at the shelter. The details of preparing for the adoption and then the sadness of losing her were posted on YorkieTalk in 2006.
The sadness of that situation is one of the key elements that inspired this new holiday short story titled Christmas Paws. There has got to be something more awaiting a pet that passes away. It doesn't end there.
