I absolutely positively LOVE and adore these 2 sentences. It encompasses *exactly* how I feel about rescue/shelter kiddos.

If more people understood this, accepted this, and appreciated its origin...we would be in such a better place to get more animals into their furever homes.

Human beings experience allll sorts of things and are a result of their experiences throughout life. It is the same for these little sentient beings we call dogs.

These kiddos who are given up need compassion, support, patience, time, love, affection, reassurance, consistency, comfort....just like we would if we were suddenly on our own, but didn't know why. Not to mention if we were suddenly on our own - caged / kenneled in a noisy, heavily populated, stressful, turned up environment.

Shelter/rescue doggies are amazingly resilient and special. Lots of potential baggage, sure, but totally worth it.
