The YTCA standard says "Dew claws, if any, are generally removed from the hind legs. Dew claws on the forelegs may be removed." So it's optional according to standard but judges don't check for dew claws.

I always dock tails at 4-5 days old and that was when I removed dew claws as well before I stopped.
