I just heard back from the Vet regarding Boomer's bloodwork and Urinalysis and the Vet said he has early stage 1 kidney disease. His bloodwork is fine but his urinalysis (not sure the exact level) is too low.

The Vet suggested putting him on prescription food for renal failure. This is awful news. He is my first pet and I do not know how to handle this. His brother Thumper is fine. I am beside myself.

I asked if I should see a specialist but the Vet said at this stage it is not necessary. He said Boomer can live another 4-5 years at it is a slow progression and we caught it early. He is only 5 years old and I would love to hear stories from others that have gone through this.
