Found a deer tick on my little girl Carrie today. It was fully engorged and when removed (got the head) it was motionless. This tells me that it was there for quite some time and it was found on the right side of her face under her long hair. I am devastated since I am more that overly cautious of these vectors due to me living in an area where Lymes is considered an epidemic. I also use topicals 9 months out of the year.

It is now getting towards the middle of November and ticks are still abundant. I am curious as to how long I need to wait to take her to get a SNAP 3DX or 4DX test done. I am confused since I have heard 3 months and some say almost 6 months to make sure it is not a false negative. Of course, if I see symptoms I will be taking her to the vet sooner. Treating her wound with peroxide then triple antibiotic.

P.S. This is my first time dealing with an engorged tick on any of my dogs through my lifetime so this is new to me..and scary.
