I really like Velcro harnesses for quick outside trips, the Velcro is very strong and they are usually a pretty fabric clothing type item, they work really well for us. Also, they do make padded martingale show leads that slip around the neck for a quick potty trip outside. That might be a good option for you too, they are widely used for toy breeds.
