I keep Gidget on a leash at all times in the house. When she needs to go pee in her puppy apartment bathroom, she lets me know and she "leads" me to the bathroom. If she's on the leash but NOT not connected to my arm, she will do her business wherever. It's like the leash on my arm is a reminder to tell me when she needs to go. Most of her training (she's almost 10 mos), is done toward the puppy apartment bathroom. When we go for our walks during the day, she will do her business outside wherever we are but she doesn't get a treat or any recognition for that. She only gets treats and praise when she does it inside in her puppy bathroom. This works for me but might not for others. Each furbaby is different and each living situation is different. Just find what works best for you and whatever keeps the stress level low. They seem to be sensitive to our stress. Just keep at it. Like it was with Gidget, it will suddenly click.
