When I bathe Cody I put a cotton ball in each ear, I tilt his head upwards, then I fold his ears down and hold them when I rinse the soap off his head, this method prevents water getting into his ears, tilting head up prevents water getting in eyes and nose. I will say, one good body shake can send those cotton balls flying so I keep a few in my pocket for replacements, I also bathe him using a hand held shower head, that works best for me.
