Thank you Gemy! So very thoughtful of you. I should have mentioned that we live in B.C. Apologies on that. The last 24 hrs. have just flown by and with many phone calls back and forth to two vets, I took Bailey in this afternoon and he is ready to be picked up at 7pm. Can't wait to see him. Of course I worked in between all of this too!
I was a bit disappointed to hear that a good vet should be able to feel for the lp and wouldn't need to have the xrays and thus, would have saved me $175! This vet was not my first choice, however my daughter was walking him when it happened, while I was on my way for dinner with a friend, and she took him to one of our local vets. My first choice is a vet in the next city and would have meant a 20 minute drive instead of a 5 minute one. Being very upset, she made the best choice at the time. As I hadn't yet reached the place I was going to have dinner, and hearing my daughter's very distressed voice on the phone, I turned around, dropped off my friend and came right home. Had pizza instead. This morning I phoned my 1st choice and true to their nature, were wonderful and made time for the surgery today. The other vet wouldn't have been that quick... and the surgery would have cost at least a few hundred more. Fingers crossed that I made the best choice. One never knows for sure, but I thought it the best one at the time. I was assured that my 1st choice has had a lot of history in this type of surgery. Not finding an ortho nearby narrowed my choices. Thanks again!!
