It's not very intuitive and I didn't know how to see sent messages until another member told me how.
Before you send a private message, you have to click on the "Go Advanced" button and then scroll down to the "Additional Options" section below all the emojis, and then check the box that says "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder."
