I don't have experience w/ seizures in dogs, but lots w/ people.

You are doing the exact right thing here - you absolutely want to find a med that prevents seizures from occurring. Yes, they will make her drowsy at first - don't sweat it - just give her plenty of time to adjust and get used to having this med in her system. The key here is prevention of seizing.
