General behavior and potty issues Hello,
I have a one year old male yorkie. We've had him since Father's Day, so about four months. He was so good about potty training until lately. We have a washable puppy pad in the bathroom of our apartment. Lately he'll just go on the carpet in the hallway right before the bathroom. My husband is furious because we have new carpeting. So my questions here are: Any pointers on what to use on that area to clean it up and make him stop going there? Should I put a puppy pad there, or will that make him just think it's ok to go there? And how do I get him to stop and go back to where he was supposed to go? He still does go on the pad occasionally, just not all the time.
Then about behavior. I work at home, but at my computer. So I am here all the time, but I do have to work. I try to take breaks and play with him when he tries to get my attention. The only problem is that he doesn't want to play or for me to pet him. I think, but I'm not completely sure because I don't speak dog, he just wants me to feed him treats. I tell him no and try to play or love him, but he doesn't want that no matter what. So I just go back to work. This is getting to be a vicious cycle. What should I do? |
