Welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations on your baby boy, Captain Leo!

Biting can be a problem with puppies. They use their teeth to explore their world, and they tend to play rough. Ideally the littermates and mom teach them some boundaries. That is why most sources recommend leaving Yorkies with their mom until 12 weeks of age, to teach bite inhibition.

Teething will also cause puppies to be bitey.

Use keywords and phrases like "no bite." Remove your hands or the target of biting and replace with a toy or safe chew.

You can also yelp like a pup when he bites you. Another trick I use for unwanted behavior is withdrawing attention. When my boys misbehave, I announce that I am leaving the room. I go where they cannot follow. When we are playing and they get too aggressive, I tell them to settle down. If they don't listen, I get up and leave, ending playtime.

Be firm, but not angry or frustrated. Good luck!
