Might be a good idea to keep him/her on the same food the breeder was feeding him until he settles into his new home with you. If he/she appears settled, switch slowly, mixing the 2 foods. If he/she only goes for the new food and seems to do okay, then don't worry.
My boys have been eating Fromm Chicken a la veg for almost 6 years. Fromm has a good reputation. They've been in business for a century and manufacture their products in their own factories.
Make sure the brand you choose is a puppy formula or "all life stages" food.
I'm sure other people will more brands to recommend.
