My Riley is 3.5# & not a great eater & also has issues with bowls. He has issues with stainless I think due to his reflection and/or the noise it may make when he eats (he doesn't wear a collar where it clangs but the eating process does cause "sounds".) With him, I think it has to do more with the rims on bowls/putting his head "inside" the bowl. I could be wrong, but that is what it seems like to me. He sometimes won't eat if I am not in the same room with him/can't watch me while he eats. (I think he is just afraid he will miss out on something. Lol) I too have to hand-feed him sometimes if it has been too long since he ate last. I am going to try a kitty saucer next.
