Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Diarrhea is never normal, but it happens occasionally, about once a year, to my Teddy. Usually a bland diet of steamed chicken and plain rice get him back on track within 24 - 48 hours.
If the diarrhea is frequent within a day, I would rest his system, withhold food and see the vet. Teddy had a bad case where the diarrhea came once an hour.
If the diarrhea shows signs of blood, or if your boy is dehydrated, definitely see the vet.
