Default Anyone use a pet water fountain?

I have been using a buddy bowl for years, since I had 3 Shih Tzu/before & with my Yorkies. I like that it pushes their beard back & (with the Shih Tzu also their ears). Now I just have my Yorkies & was wondering if a small pet drinking water fountain would be a better option. It appears the water would be cleaner all the time since it is filtered. I happened across one for $20 at Bed, Bath & Beyond yesterday ($5 off with coupon). It was made with plastic but it is the smallest one I have seen, which I prefer, (others 40 ounces & up) at the pet stores, even when looking in the cat section. Many of the least expensive ones are made with plastic (FYI Riley doesn't like stainless). I am wondering if plastic is a good choice. Also, do these tend to splash water? The furkidz do use a food/water mat in the kitchen & my kitchen has wood floors & I am concerned about water splashing on my wood floors. Any experience with these water fountains?
