Good question. I think with baby teeth removal you don't need to worry as much. When Max was a pup and his baby teeth were falling out, I didn't stop him from chewing on his toys or bones.
When adult teeth are extracted, a stitch is put in, antibiotics are usually prescribed. Usually soreness will cause the dog to limit him or herself from chewing.
You could give your vet's office a call and see what they recommend.
