With dogs it is a bit different. If they lose a pup before birth most often it reabsorbs or is born dead. I realize anything is possible but I have never had one actually miscarry a pup and then go on to deliver the rest of the litter at 9 weeks.
I have had friends who bitches delivered too early and lost the litter..but these things do not happen routinely for me..infact I have lost few litters or had them born too early..so try to relax and read all you can.
