Ehrchiliosis My Pixie is a very curious girl. In the past, she has had stomach problems after swallowing things, including a match! We have been more careful with her toys, things on the floor or on tables where she can reach. However, she kept having stomach issues. After several vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding episodes, the stomach medications didn’t seem to work. The vet wanted another blood test (previews ones were always normal). When he tried to draw blood, he noticed a coagulation problem. He ordered a coagulation profile, a desert profile, and several labs. The blood tests show that Pixie has Ehrlichiosis, a tick-transmitted disease. It was a shock to us because Pixie is usually inside our house. At one time, we tried to walk with her outside, but she was so nervous that we didn’t insist. We only take her to the doctor and the grooming and we always use a pet carrier. Anyway, at some point a tick bit her and we need to protect her from ticks or any other bugs that could affect her. The problem is that the doctor ordered Advantix and I am very worried about its toxicity. I don’t want Pixie to have abad reaction. Pixie started an antibiotic already but I am afraid to use the Advantix. I only found one post about Ehrlichiosis. Anyone out there with experience on this? |
