I disagree and thankfully several breeders I spoke to (yes reputable) didn't have a problem with it either. I think it's silly to assume someone is impulse buying or will forget about and abandon a puppy because they happen to want to give one as a gift on Christmas day.
My mother has wanted a yorkie for years and since her birthday had already passed naturally I was wanting to surprise her at Christmas. Geez. Thanks for your concerns though, you can rest easy knowing I couldn't wait and already got a puppy weeks ago.

Anyway this post is rather old and I didn't get much help when I first posted it but to the person who wanted to know what I found out about the breeder. I did talk to her a little on facebook and she was friendly enough and seemed knowledgeable but after searching this forum I saw one of her old posts from years ago on here and read the comments and it wasn't good. It was clear she was a backyard breeder. To be fair it was years ago and maybe she's changed her business practices but I made the decision to go with a different breeder.
