so funny - I just defended those cute floppy ears ( seriously - I love them ) - and as of yesterday Bella's one ear is standing up ... the other one still flopping down ... adorable ...
It is beyond me why anyone would want a docked tail - the tail is cute - and does't get in the way - and it serves as a " mood meter".
My old dog just had to have a tail amputated due to a super rare tumor ( could have been anywhere on his body so not tail specific). It is so sad not to see the tail uncurl and wave around depending on his mood- he still wags his little nub but we all miss his happy tail ( but we are glad the tumor is gone for good!).
It was a hugely painful experience with a host of complications for our Toby and I would not recommend tail removal on adult dogs unless absolutely necessary!
Bella seems to be a happy puppy- she is romping around with our other girl every day - they play wrestle and seem to be having a blast - we hope the two girls will be friends for life and can grow old together when our senior " guys" pass over the rainbow bridge ...Pixie ( age 5) seems happy to finally have a younger playmate - living with two senior canines can be a bit too tranquil at times for a young dog ..I am glad Bella gets to have an older sister who puts her in line and shows her the ropes too..and two old " med" who seem to watch her with a benevolent eye ( I swear I can see them shaking their heads about all that puppy nonsense!)
There is even some progress with potty training thanks to the unusually warm and beautiful weather. Bella seems to have gotten the basic message to " go" when we take her out - and she goes on the potty pad when we are not home and the dogs are in the laundry room ( pretty amazing for only a week of training) - of course there are accidents but a start has been made and I am optimistic ... After training so many mill puppies I am used to months and months of slooooooow progress. How did we get so lucky finding Bella? |
