What about some coloured plastic like a plastic table cloth (just plastic no backing ) cut to how high that it would block his view. Wet the glass and put the plastic on it should cling to the glass if that doesn't work just a card board box in front of the glass you should still have half of the window free for light . We had to do this to a mirror door.
