My Wylie has IVDD (disc disease) and whenever he has a "flare", the standard protocol is pain med, steroid, and muscle relaxant - clears right up every time so far. Just giving pain med (rimadyl) isn't really enough of a treatment. I'd try the steroid for sure when she has a flare and see how that works...
