This is quite an old thread and was enjoyable to read- especially how nicely the ladies chatted with each other- but yes, the fontanelle should be closed early on and an open fontanelle is a fault, dogs with that fault should not be bred- a dog with an open fontanelle is very fragile and lives a risky often all too short life.
