Several years ago NYC, Central park, lady walking her Chihuahua on leash, hawk swooped and grabbed the dog, the lady held onto the leash, pulling the dog from the hawks talons, the dog was severely injured but survived the attack. Even with people around these birds are not afraid when there is a food source in sight.
