My pup has the beginning of cataracts. I take her to a dog opthamologist every 6 months to watch the progress. When she need surgery we will go that route - she has pet insurance that will cover it, but you can make an appointment with a dog opthamologist specialist and talk to them about the prognosis, treatment, and cost. I think it might help for you to get information "from the horses mouth" as it were ! Then you would know for sure what your options are. Good luck!
