Staph is a very common skin infection on dogs and I am quite sure that is why you were given those meds. All you have to do is call the vet's office and ask so you know for sure. It is what many vets do give.
My vet usually gives one shot of Convenia. The only time I have been given Simplicef is if the Convenia does not clear it up, but usually it does. It is a great fix...one shot/no pills!! I have had to have that shot repeated if the infection has not totally cleared up....just as long as it IS clearing up.
