Well, the problem with the dog food advisor in my opinion is that he focuses more on ingredients rather than quality control and/or success rates/results of feeding various foods. Because of this, he has had many of his highly ranked dog foods end up on the recall lists. He is a human dentist who has made a lot of money doing this ranking of dog foods.
He has made people question the validity of prescription foods that could save their pups' lives. I have met many of these people over the years. Thankfully, many do listen to reason and have tried the RX foods their vets recommended with great success. That myth about vets making money on dog food is simply that, a myth. Oh, they make a small amount for handling it; but that is not a huge money maker for them. They provide it because it is necessary for certain dogs and has real research data to prove it.

I personally won't even read the DFA opinions any more...I did for a time and found it not for me. Instead, if I want nutritional recommendations, I review the information that is given by Diplomates of the ACVN.
