The easiest way to stop the begging is to say "no" and then ignore any subsequent begging. If you give in once, the begging will continue.
My boys never begged until I handed them something off of my plate. They went to their doggy beds while I had my meals. Now they will perform sits under me if they know I have something that they might get a taste of. I tell them, "That's all. Let me eat." That is their cue to stop the begging.
If you are 100% consistent, the begging will stop.
