Default Broken Jaw

My little 7 year old, Dakota broke his jaw last time hitting up into a table. It is a small fracture of his upper jaw (above his 3 top front teeth). He has no pain at all - no problem eating or drinking or barking. His jaw moves and he's licking like crazy (normal for him). We have been referred to a vet dentist and will call on Momday. It appears in some dogs they can treat/heal with bedrest and soft food for 8-12 weeks. He had an FCE stroke a year ago and we were/are hesitant to put him under for a dental. The FCE testing showed a skull fracture and I wonder if it's related and was aggravated by it. I will follow up on Monday with the dentist, but wanted to see if anyone has insight. I'm taking his normal non-painful response as a positive!
