Dogs just like people have different metabolisms. And my dog was on a food with grains. He ate kirkland lamb or chicken for years and ate less than the recommended amount and he was over weight. While my jack russell was never over weight.
The recommended amount is just a general suggestion. Many dogs do better in less.
I changed my dogs to acana- which is higher in fat then their previous food but grain free. And low in carbs And so he has lost weight now and is a perfect weight. So you may want to talk to your vet about the food your feeding as well .
In my house it would never work to feed them out of the same bowl.
Maybe you can find something more enticing to get your smaller yorkie to eat. That way you can feed them seperatly, and monitor how much they eat better?
