HA!! My puppy is only verbal very rarely. She gives squeals and squeal howls when happy, but really isn't a whiner, barker, or growler. I had to teach her to do even the stuff she does do. She didn't make a darn peep until 3 weeks after she came home. She barked briefly at the hose beast and The drill Sargent in full metal jacket, but nothing else. I made the mistake of giving her food every morning while I had my cup of coffee. At the table. I'd have blueberries and walden farms "chocolate" sauce for me. Peeled apples or blueberries for her.
Now she'll do the begging pose. A woof and then lots of shrill barks. The ONLY person she won't do this to is my husband who from day one was warning me to not give in to the cuteness. I should have listened. I created a chip monster to counteract your cookie monster.
