My now passed yorkie was 17 lbs, beautiful sleek body. 1997 there was no media about puppy mills, all my pups were purchased from pet shops, perhaps she was a puppy mill pup, but she was healthy until she reached 10 or 11 yo. A dedicated breeder breeds for standard size, no more then 7 lbs as adults, and will check generics in both sire and dam at least 10 to 12 generations back to ensure size and heath issues, Then you have the BYB, hey you have a male yorkie and I have the female, lets mate them up, sell them for big bucks, it's a crap shoot as to what they end up with, this is what you want to stay away from. NO dedicated breeder breeds for LARGE or TINY yorkies. Breeders who do NOT check many generations back could possibly get bigger or under standard size yorkies. ALL my yorkies 5 in total weighed 9 lbs, 2 were 13 lbs, one 17 lbs and my adopted boy is 12 lbs, I prefer the larger one myself as they fit my life style. To answer your question "are there organizations that specialize in larger Yorkies", should be NO. It's a roll of the dice. There could be a breeder that may have a larger then standard puppy in their litter. You may have better luck at rescuing, there you would see the size of the adult dog, there are so many yorkies in shelters that need loving homes. Good luck in your search.
