Mosquito season is coming. Is your dog protected against heartworm?
Mosquitoes transmit heartworm and can infect your pet with a single bite. By the time symptoms appear, infection may be well established and life-threatening. A chronic cough, shortness of breath, and listlessness are possible signs of heartworm, though often there are no symptoms. Although treatment is available, it is preferable to prevent heartworm. Schedule an appointment with your vet to discuss the options available if you live in an area with mosquitoes.
