Thank you everyone. It's been just over a week and today would have been Barney's 16th birthday. We picked up his remains and the vet hospital did a very nice package. He came home in a little mahogany wood box with a lock and key and they sent his certificate of cremation, the rainbow bridge prayer and the crematory made a donation in his name to a fund for animal care. The hospital is sending us an inked paw print too. All in all a very nice way to have picked him up. We miss him terribly but knowing his time had come and ending his fight has us very much at peace. From time to time around my home, I think I see him and he appears much younger. It's spooky!
