 Other dogs will play
It sounds to me like you have hit the nail on the head. Your girls live with him and he is just a nuisance to their old way of life. The friends he makes just see him as a passing buddy they can play with and not another dog encroaching on their home territory. They play a while and then he goes back to his own home. But in time this will change as everyone here has stated. It is hard I know when you just want them all to get along and be friends.
