What I learned the last 3 weeks with Max Max just turned 10 weeks old..boy time flies! I forgot how much work puppies are. Not sure how anyone with a "real" job does it. I own a business with my daughter and we sew all day long. Husband does craft shows on the weekends so I'm home with Max all the time.
What I learned the last 3 weeks:
1. Puppies don't sleep thru the night. Be prepared to exhausted! He goes out around 1am, 4:00 and 8:00.
2. hates to be crated! Slept with us barricaded between us. Then slowly worked to get him in a 3'x3' gate play yard. Seems content and wakes me when he wants to go outside.
3. He isn't a picky eater..loves his kibble, his wet food, the cats wet food (it's a game to see if he gets there before me) the cats dry food. His sisters wet food and kibble too! Now loves sharing my morning toast too! 3 dogs and me all sharing toast.
4. Learned he whines, cries and carries on if I leave the room or the house! so haven't grocery shopped for 3 weeks. Better outgrow this soon! Was loading up the trailer outside and he was upstairs. We could hear him all the way outside.
5. Catching on to potty training but if I give him too much area to play in I can't catch him before he pees on the floor. Thank goodness it's hardwood flooring.
6. Learned he can't stand his feet in wet grass. Pees on the sidewalk in the middle of the night. What's he going to do when we have 2 feet of snow? I'm going to have to sew a parka and snow shoes for him
7. Loves pig ears... But his sister keep stealing them from him. They will occupy him so he settles down for his naps.
8. Learned Yorkies are fragile! He's 2.5 lbs and his legs are smaller than a chicken wing! Afraid I'll roll over him in my chair!
9. Learned he is the most lovable, intelligent social butterfly I've ever known. And glad he is part of our family but in the back off my mind I think he needs a family with kids or other dogs that will play with him 😕 He loves when our 6 yr old grandson comes over to play...or when he gets play dates. I think he would be happier playing all day than sitting under my chair waiting for me to play with him. Once he's older it will be a great life for him. |
